dating back to the Roman Times, Albinus Caecina built a settlement in Tuscany that now carries his name and Brings this air-dried beef to our tables. Our beef is sourced from our neighbours on either side of our valley.
We spend time on their farms – so we know everything about their herds and the effort it takes to keep cows out on pasture.
We share a passion for fantastic food, farmed both kindly and responsibly enhancing the wonderful flavours that come with time and effort.

The first quarter of the year is always the ‘Doom Month’ for farmers, and sadly, more and more don’t make it through every year. The weather is a battle; the animals need more food to keep healthy and dry beds and lots of straw to sleep cosy and warm. The man/woman hours required to sort all this is immense. This doubles and triples costs – yet after the indulgences of Christmas – food, and where it comes from, is the last thing on people’s minds!
Please support your farmers and growers during the most challenging time of the year. Please do your shopping at the Farm Shops and the Farm Gate. The Supermarkets can weather the ‘cold’, but Farms need that extra help, especially right now!
